About Us

Northland Nīkau is a small family nursery, run by Nik and Nicky. We combined our talents and resources to create our business in 2014. After moving to the Hokianga, we began growing Nīkau palms exclusively from local seed stock, with a deep commitment to supporting Northland's local ecology.

Nik began his journey growing Nīkau palms in Coromandel town in 1998 and has specialised in mainland Nīkau ever since. 

Nīkau palms are New Zealand’s only mainland native palm. They are beautiful, unique, and rarely found in new plantings, but we believe they have a lot of heart and deserve to be celebrated and included in more landscapes.
